Event Designer / Business Developer – Full Time, Permanent (Vaughan, ON)

Innovative change and ambitious growth at Cruisesetter has created the need for an Events Designer/Business Developer. We are actively looking for a passionate and enthusiastic person to plan and execute all theme based cruises. The Event Designer/ Business Developer will create and implement all events from conception through completion, as well as network and partner with businesses to sponsor and or participate in their niche event. Job Description
  • Create and develop onboard cruise and offshore events based on a specific theme or niche.
  • Create and build strong partnerships with businesses, organizations and celebrities for events.
  • Research and identify appropriate cruise line, ships and attractions for each theme event.
  • Develop detailed proposals for events (e.g. timelines, venues, staffing, budgets, etc).
  • Engage, and recruit niche/theme related businesses, organizations and celebrities to sponsor and/or participate in event.
  • Contract vendors and event staff and coordinate all event logistics with them.
  • Engage and negotiate with event partners and vendors to get the highest value (volume and quality of trial opportunities) and
  •       presence from each new event.
  • Book cabins, meeting rooms, and other facilities as needed on ship with Cruise line staff.
  • Create contingencies plans in case last minute changes or minor emergencies.
  • Ensure all rules, regulations, legislation and health and safety policies and procedures are implemented and followed.
  • Provide financial and program reporting and post event analysis.
  • Reports to Chief Executive Officer.

Desired Skills and Experience
  • 3-5 years of event planning, or relevant experience
  • Highly creative, and innovative out of the box thinker
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Confident personality with the ability to take initiative; strong problem-solving skills
  • Must be able to work independently, handle multiple projects in a fast-paced environment
  • Must be able to network, negotiate and collaborate effectively
  • A high level of energy and strong passion to deliver successful projects and a positive customer experience
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills; excellent verbal and written communication skills are essential
  • Self-motivated and goal oriented
  • Progressive experience in people management, event execution and event planning certification, an asset
  • Proficient with event planning software
  • Strong Business Acumen, ability to build strong, lasting business relationships
  • Possess a professional approach to event design

Requirements
  • Travel is required, both national and international
  • Valid driver’s license and on-going access to a vehicle is mandatory
  • Valid passport
  • TICO (Travel Industry Council of Ontario) Certification an asset
  • This job will require working some weekends, evenings, and holidays.
